Spiagge dello Zingaro (Tp)
These beaches are located within the Zingaro Natural Reserve on the northwestern extremity of the Tyrrhenian coast. Short paths permit to walking towards the ocean and diving into the uncontaminated waters of one of the most stunning places of the Mediterranean Sea.

How to get there

  • From Palermo SS113 to Trapani, then SS187 and exit at Castellamare del Golfo.

The coast between Capo Calavà and Capo Schino, nearby Capo D'Orlando, is scattered with gorgeous sandy beaches and small resorts.

Scopello (Tp)

Scopello (Tp)
Scopello is a small fishing village located on the northwestern coast of Sicily, between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo. Small but rich in tradition, it has succeeded in maintaining its identity with its few houses, the baglio (bailey, or courtyard), a church, the faraglioni (rock stacks), and the tuna fishery.

Spiaggia dei Conigli, Lampedusa (Ag)
On the southeast side of Lampedusa, many consider Spiaggia dei Conigli (Rabbits Beach) one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The bay has greenish-blue transparent waters and white small grains of sand.

How to get there

  • The island of Linosa is connected to Sicily by a ferry service with the seaport of Porto Empedocle, near Agrigento. Lampedusa, the bigger island of the Pelagie Islands, also has a small national airport which carries out service mainly during the summer period.

Vendicari, Pachino (Sr)
Since 1984, Vendicari marshlands have become part of the Natural Reserve named "Oasis and Fauna of Vendicari" and are protected by the State Forest administration of the Sicilian Region. Wide and immaculate beaches make this area one of the most beautiful in Sicily.

Scala dei Turchi, Agrigento

Scala dei Turchi, Agrigento
Beautiful rock formation made of gypsum and lime stone, La Scala dei Turchi, which means "The Turkish stairway", is located on the southern coast of Sicily between Trapani and Agrigento. The name of this place refers to a legend which tells about the story of the Turkish invasion of Sicily. The stairway supposedly was built by the invaders to occupy the island.

Natural Reserve since 1987, Capo Falconiera’s clean waters offer one of the richest flora and fauna marine environments of the Mediterranean, a real heaven for scuba diving.

How to get there

  • The are frequent car ferries and much quicker hydrofoils from Milazzo on Sicily to and between the Aeolian Islands (most go to Lipari) - many during the summer, with fewer in the spring, fall, winter and on Sundays. For timetables see SIREMAR, Ustica Lines and NGI.

  • A few car ferries for week also continue on to Naples (see SNAV) and during the summer hydrofoils run to and from Cefalù, Palermo and Messina.

The coast of the Aegadian Islands, Levanzo, is characterized by a myriad of gulfs and little beaches. Cala Minnola is unique for the color of its rocks and the transparence of the sea.

On the southeastern coast of one of the Aegadian Islands, Favignana, Cala Rossa is a rocky beach that smoothly descends downhill towards into the sea.
